Open Links # 4

On Wed, August 25, 2010, in E-Government , Open Links , by Ernesto Belisario

After a long pause, returns the date with Open Links , contacts established to collect reports, news and insights on Open Data and Open Government.
Autumn is coming will be very intense and I see committed (with his friends ever) in so many initiatives to spread the doctrine Open in our country, as I have already written , we must not waste any time, also because they are increasingly countries that engage in such policies, experiencing the benefits and we can not run the risk of remaining behind.

1. In the U.S., for example, has been launched Code for America , not government project aimed at bringing together the community of svilppatori with local authorities. In the video below embeddo, the initiative is promoted by some of the most influential players in the Web 2.0.

2. The movement of 'Open Government continues to achieve significant success outside the U.S.. Even in Australia, where the government had constituted a real 2.0 Taskforce to the Government , has adopted an official document (Declaration of Open Government) in which the Executive is committed to using technology to ensure greater transparency and facilitate collaboration with citizens.

3. In England the Government has decided to speed on the road of 'Open Data: Prime Minister, in fact, has appointed a new committee that takes care of the public sector transparency: the Public Sector Transparency Board.
The Committee, presideduto by the competent Minister (reflecting the importance that the matter was for the Government) and consists - among others - from the likes of Tim Berners-Lee and Rufus Pollock , was already at work and is developing the principles which orientate all the initiatives for the release of public data , it is a job to follow with interest and attention.

4. Greece also, despite the severe economic crisis crossed, he decided to take the road of 'Open Data, a few days ago the site was launched geodata.gov.gr dedicated to geospatial data. This project was realized with the help of an ad hoc working group , constituted by the Prime Minister.

It would be desirable that a similar initiative was also taken up by the Italian government, but at the moment, it seems a utopia seen the complete neglect of issues Open.

Happy reading and the next :-)

So let's try with the Regions!
We do lobby to push through many regional laws that transpose this simple principle: "if you paid with public money, must be public."
You have already 'wrote a law about it?

  2. @ Luke I agree with you. Even if the solution is preferable to an approach at the state level, regional laws may still be a good result. I'm preparing a text "type" :)
