A few days ago was presented MiaPA , innovative service of social check-in applied to the Public Administration, with the opportunity has been launched what may be termed the first experiment employs an Administration Open Date Italian State.

Italian Open Data License v 1.0

In fact the page where you can download the data of Section of Public Administration says that they were "freed" with an open license developed ad hoc: the Italian Open Data Licence (IODL) v 1.0 .

In this article published on the site ForumPA I tried to explain why, in my opinion, the project IODL is great news for the whole movement Italian Open.

Who follows this blog certainly remember that, on several occasions, I have dealt with licenses that - usually - is used for the contents of the Public Administration (among others: ENIT site , site NORMATTIVA ): Authorities often use copyright to restrict the use of public data and rarely use open licenses, in this context, the adoption of IODL already represents a small revolution: the new license, in fact, aims to promote

"The free and free consultation, extraction, reproduction and reuse of data and information contained therein by any interested party for any purpose"

First, we understand that there is a strategy behind that is not only related to data MiaPA (would not make sense to build a license only for heading the office) and the strategy includes a license - in Italian - open type (so not unlike that provided by the British Government with the OGL enthusiastically welcomed by influential personalities such as David Eaves).

Of course there are several things to review and refine (as in every "v 1.0" respectable) and in the coming weeks will surely be appropriate to study them for future versions of the license, the intentions of those who drafted, should establish itself as valuable tool for all cases of "liberation" of government data.

If there is the philosophy behind the IODL open states in the introduction, future versions definitely welcome suggestions from the community.
